DOG BITE PREVENTION WEEK: BASIC “PET”IQUETTE

Dogs may be “man’s best friend” but it would be unfair to expect them to be EVERY mans friend. We’re dedicating the 2nd week of April to raising awareness for “Dog Bite Prevention Week”. Swipe or click through the this weeks slides as we cover topics ranging from dog behavior, physical cues, “best practices” for approaching unfamiliar dogs, the importance of keeping your dog up to date on their rabies vaccines and finally what you should do in the event of a dog bite.

Do YOU practice bite safety when meeting new dogs out in public? Check and see how your skills match up with the ASPCA’s best practices for meetin’ & mushin’ on all those good boys and good girls you may meet on your walk.

VetMed Pro-Tip: Whether your walking your own pooch or just walking solo ALWAYS give other dogs being walked on retractable leashes an extra wide birth as you cannot always guarantee their owners are in full control of their pet.
